How old is the Southwest?

  • WHAT: In this laboratory project you will work with advanced analytical instrumentation to determine the ages of rock samples (i.e., ‘geochronology’). You will use rocks collected from mountain ranges in southern Arizona to understand the geologic events that shaped the Southwest.

  • WHERE: This project will involve lab work at the University of Arizona and optionally field work in the surroundings of Tucson.
